Our school is located in a diverse, high poverty neighborhood of Chicago, IL. We have exceptional community involvement and a caring and progressive administration but we have very limited resources available to us. My 3rd grade class is full of unique personalities. Creative, funny, dramatic, and mysterious, those are words to describe my students. They are also words to describe the stories they love to write! My students explore reading and writing together. I am building life-long readers, lovers of literature, creative thinkers, and effective writers. We actively work on projects incorporating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We are a room of authors, mathematicians, scientists, poets, teachers and learners!
