Each year we study the human body, including organs and the systems in which they reside. Students often do not find this unit as exciting as the others as there are not many hands-on opportunities. This year we want our students to be able to see the organs up close. Help spark our students' curiosity as they learn about the human body. Students will be able to make the boring book work come alive as they are able to take a closer look at the life-like model parts of the heart, lungs, eyes, and skeleton. Also, help us build that love of learning that hands-on science brings to a class. Students would be able to learn about textures as well as colors, shapes and sizes using the microscopes to examine anything they want to. The slides provide my students with animals and insects so they aren’t trying to take live creatures into the classroom and put under a microscope. The skeleton blocks would show them what the skeleton of animals look like and the specimen center gives them hands-on materials to learn about mammals. As a child, I did not enjoy science. When I was in elementary school, we learned through worksheets and textbooks only which was boring to me so I try to make it fun for my students so they can develop a love of science. I complete a science experiment every week with my students to expose them to science concepts. Science is an important subject and I want my students to understand and love exploring their surroundings. Giving them tools such as microscopes to use is an easy, fun way to promote science in the classroom. From the future doctors in our class, we thank you.
