In order to give my students immediate feedback on any paper/pencil work, I walk around and check on them as they're working on it. I rarely have them turn it in to be graded later. This way, if students need to correct an error I can catch it quickly and reteach as needed before there is too much confusion. Once I've checked it, I stamp it or slap a sticker on it and send it home so their parents can see what we've been working on. Stickers and stamps get to be very expensive and this is something that I've always paid for out of my pocket. It would be nice to have some of this "covered" for a while to give my pocketbook a break. Another way to give immediate feedback is to ask kids to write their answers on a dry erase board and show me their work. This allows me to make a mental note of who understands the task and who needs more help. Dry erase materials are put to great use in my room and because of that often need to be replaced. The problem is, these materials are expensive. I hate to ask parents to replenish dry erase markers and erasers during the middle of the year because these items are no longer on sale. To have an abundance on hand would be ideal!!
