All of my students are five or or six years old. Some of our students have been to school before while the majority have not had any formal educational opportunities. Most of my students come from low socioeconomic households. The majority of my students are English Language Learners. The community where my students live is impoverished and can be riddled with gang violence. One in seven students in my school district are homeless. On a sunnier note, my students have already made excellent growth, and I want to continue to encourage them with some new learning materials.
