I teach a self-contained Life Skills class with grades 9-12. My students have autism and/or Mild Intelectual Disability. My students love participating in hands-on learning. I teach English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Adult Survival Skills, and Vocational Orientation. We have a classroom business called Jaguar Java. We make coffee to sell to teachers and staff members. My class enjoys community based learning. I take them to the grocery store to shop for Jaguar Java, the mall, the park district, and many other community locations. My students are learning independence and how to be a productive member of society.
