A library of inclusive and diverse texts is a necessary component of every ELA classroom. The books that I've selected for this project are high interest, popular, and they provide opportunities for my students to see themselves represented in the novels they read. The books in this collection put my students' experiences in the front. Written by author's of color, telling stories that my students can relate to, these books will enrich the lives of kids who may have never had an opportunity to read a story about someone who looks like they do. These books have the potential to turn a non-reader into a book lover, and they can travel to students' homes to continue their learning and love of reading away from the classroom.
