The furniture and decor has been put to very good use over the past few months, being used as a space for students to meet with mental health providers and counselors, all in an effort to support them in being their best self.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped my students feel excited, comfortable and cared for in receiving the support they deserve. Having a space in which they can feel safe in allows them to open up to more meaningful conversation, with the goal of supporting their mental health and helping them reach their potential. Now that we have welcomed students into this warm and inviting space regularly, we are working to bring parents in as well, with the intention of continuing to support the whole child and meet their needs. \r\n\r\nThe enhanced support we have been able to provide to our deserving students in need would not be possible without your contribution so from the bottom of my heart, thank you!","fullyFundedDate":1730384472891,"projectUrl":"project/mental-health-resource-room/8909035/","projectTitle":"Mental Health Resource Room","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jaworski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9819341"},{"teacherId":9826614,"projectId":8920761,"letterContent":"The implementation of the board game cabinet in our cafeteria has had a tremendous impact on student engagement, social interaction, and overall school culture. With the transition to a \"no electronics\" policy through the use of Yondr pouches, students initially faced an adjustment period as they navigate their school day without relying on personal electronic devices. However, the introduction of board games has provided a fun and structured alternative that encourages students to interact, strategies, and build relationships in ways that technology often limits. From fast- paced games like Uno to more strategic ones like sorry, students have found new ways to challenge themselves and each other while fostering a sense of community. \r\n\r\nBeyond simply providing entertainment, the board game cabinet has promoted important social- emotional skills such as patience, teamwork, and problem solving. Students who may not have interacted otherwise are now bonding over s shared game, learning how to navigate both competition and collaboration. This shift has created a more positive, inclusive environment in the cafeteria and study halls where card shuffling and conversation have replaced silence and scrolling. By encouraging face-to- face interactions, this project has supported mental wellness and strengthened peer relationships, making our school a place where students truly feel connected and engaged.","fullyFundedDate":1730827444028,"projectUrl":"project/mental-health-keeping-kids-off-screens/8920761/","projectTitle":"Mental Health - Keeping Kids off Screens","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Sheehan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9826614"},{"teacherId":9797838,"projectId":8866013,"letterContent":"As a K-12 school, we are often unable to do creative work because of space restrictions and/or a lack of funding for resources. Thanks to the generous donations, we were able to take a run-down unused space in our district office and make it into a community resource room with many fun supplies for students and families. \r\n\r\nA specific example of how we are utilizing the space is that I began running a small tier 2 level group of freshman to help support them with the transition to high school which includes academic and emotional support. Without this space, this group wouldn't be possible. When I brought students into the room, they were very impressed with the calming and comfortable atmosphere we created. They especially liked using the zen garden and sitting on the comfortable furniture we purchased with the donations. This space helped them feel they were part of something special. They all also received their own journal for reflection and they could choose from fidgets to use during the school day.\r\n\r\nWe plan to continue using the materials we received to support our students and families. I work in an urban charter high school serving approximately 330 young adults. Our students come to school with a variety of needs that must be met before they can fully engage in the learning that occurs during a school day. \r\n\r\nOur project included outfitting a small room in the main high school office with a filing cabinet to stock with granola bars and fidgets and calming tools for students who often spend time in our office calming down, resetting for the day and having space to work through complicated issues and emotions. \r\n\r\nSchools do so much on so little and having a few extra resources to help our students thrive during the school day makes an enormous difference. \r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity and kindness especially during this special time of the year.","fullyFundedDate":1730757797958,"projectUrl":"project/high-school-mental-health-meeting-stude/8919205/","projectTitle":"High School Mental Health: Meeting Students Basic Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hilligas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9825858"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_23540","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1119,"numTeachers":84,"percentFrplEligible":68,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":52,"percentWhite":20,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.2,"schoolId":23540,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tapestry Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tapestry Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-state-department-education/tapestry-charter-high-school/23540"}
