Every year when I meet my new class, I'm concerned about one thing- will they be kind? During the first weeks of school, the only lesson I need them to "get" is that during the school day, we basically are a family. We are brothers and sisters in class. We focus on the basics; having manners, how to settle a disagreement, sharing, etc. Later we get into routines and academics. All families and classrooms need tools. Regardless of the financial situation at home, I want my students to know that they will not go without the things needed to learn. In this project, I am requesting some basic supplies to help our classroom run more smoothly. Having writing tools, crayons and paper available for the children to use is essential. At the beginning of the year, second graders are very dependent on their teacher but they move along and become more independent and responsible for their own work. They keep track of their work and organize it by subject in folders. They need to have access to all our office tools (sharpener, stapler, copy paper, looseleaf paper) and know how to use them. All of these supplies will be used daily by every student in the room. Thank you for considering our project. Every donation is greatly appreciated.
