My second grade class is comprised of 22 children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. For many of them, school is the most consistent source of structure in their lives. I strive to provide a learning environment that is based on fostering a life long love of learning. I want my children to understand that no matter what their background is, they can each grow up to accomplish great things. I am in the business of teaching them to work hard and rise above their current circumstances so that they can make a positive contribution to the world. My school is an amazing place. We are in the infancy stage of changing the mindsets of our students, parents and community in regard to achievement. It is a huge undertaking, but we are taking the steps needed to make positive changes. Thanks to a visionary principal and motivated staff, we are on our way, because, "If you can dream it, you can do it."
