My students live and learn in the Bronx, New York, at one of New York City's many district schools. My class, Team 5-513, came into fifth grade this year below grade level in reading, but many of them are entering sixth grade on grade level thanks to our leveled classroom library and lots of independent reading time! Team 5-513 is not just full of avid readers, but also talented writers and illustrators. Many of my students have written/are in the process of writing their own books, and as a class we are thrilled to be publishing our own poetry anthology! Besides reading, my students' many interests and talents include basketball, baseball, singing, dancing and having fun together.
