Each year, my students who read at or above grade level are invited to compete in the Battle of the Books. The 36 books desired are those on the 2018-2019 school year America's Battle of the Books book list. Participating students must read a book listed, create a summary presentation of their choice, as well as pass a comprehension quiz. Once this has been done for six or more of the books, they are able to join a Battle of the Books team made up of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at our school. The teams then compete in trivia questions about the books against a neighboring school at the end of the school year. I would like to have a copy of each of these books available for the students who are able to complete. Then, next year, the books will all be included in my general classroom library for students to come to enjoy for years to come.
