My students love to play the drums and regularly ask when we can get more of them. We currently only have one tubano drum and only two gathering drums. These work great for my K-1 classes, but as the 2-5 students are playing Orff instruments (xylophones), my other students should be playing drums to make a complete rhythmic ensemble. Our classroom is very small with a small storage room that is shared with the orchestra. These drums are versa drums and provide the ability to separate the drum heads to play as hand drums. They also stack for easier storage. Your donation will provide drums for at least 6 students in each of my classes. With the addition of drums, I can have all students playing instruments to make a complete ensemble of barred instruments, drums, and other non-pitched percussion instruments. These drums will also assist our students with sensory and language challenges. They will serve a musical therapy need for those students requiring a conversational and emotional outlet through music.
