My first grade student with Autism is not able to communicate verbally. He has shown exceptional growth in communication with access to an iPad as a mode of alternative communication. His family is invested in his education and would love to provide this for him, but unfortunately they can not afford this investment. This student's quality of life and academic skills would soar beyond anyone's expectations if he was able to have unlimited access to alternative communication that he could carry with him throughout his day and bring home to maximize his opportunity to communicate. Give the gift of something that we all take for granted every day- communication.
