When you have students that move from place to place, city to city, state to state or even country to country every so often, it is critical to bring stability, warmth, home and a feeling of comfort to the learning environment to help them better assimilate to their ever changing lives. By providing something as simple as different chairs, it keeps the classroom fun and engaging but also allows the student to feel comfortable and let their guard down. Third grade is a time of transition and the best way for the students to learn and transition is to create a welcoming environment. That is why having different seating and comfortable seating will elevate this for the students.
My students also need access to more books, that will help expand their mind and provide them with additional reading option. At this moment, we don't have enough books in our library for the students and having more donated and/or even having enough to provide them in the classroom for students to check out would be a dream come true. Books are gateways to infinite possibilities and I want my students to realize this classroom will provide them the tools to reach their dreams.
