The donations made to funding Literature for Diverse Learners will help students in my classroom feel more confident in their independent reading skills. It will not only provide them a diverse background from titles to choose from, but also it will help support their reading growth and ultimately boost their confidence in their reading ability. It can be very challenging to locate a book of interest in any school library when you are reading four to five grade levels behind. Imagine what it would be like to struggle with this weekly. By providing high interest books on a lower level for my classroom, my students will excel and gain more confidence in their reading ability because they will have books on their level to choose from. I plan to use these materials in our classroom library. Students will be able to choose from different titles and read independently, in groups, or as well as in small group instruction.
