My students will be provided with fiction and nonfiction leveled readers that will allow them to apply and build on their reading skills they have learned. As their reading skills increase, leveled readers will allow my students to read books of increasing difficulty. It is important for students to read both fiction and nonfiction. By having leveled readers for both genres, students will build their decoding, comprehension and fluency skills throughout both genres. Finally, it is important for students to have a large variety of books to choose from in order to foster reading for enjoyment, as well as knowledge.
