My middle school English students love Firsts Fridays, when we sit by the (simulated) campfire and I read them the first chapter of a novel from our classroom's lending library. In the first two weeks of school, they checked out eight novels and my teacher heart danced for joy! We are quickly cycling through our limited selection though, and need an infusion of high-interest and diverse reading materials ASAP. Most students, especially males, lose their love of reading by fifth grade, but right now I still have my eighth graders hooked-- and I need your help to keep them hooked!
