Hi! I am a teacher-librarian at a public high school of about 1100 students in rural North Carolina. My goal on Donors Choose is to build and maintain a library that is engaging, inviting, useful, and fun. Our students, who run the gamut of backgrounds and learning styles, could benefit from a place to be creative and to learn collaboratively -- and the library has the potential to provide that for them. Our students are full of untapped potential: from future programmers and robotics designers to post-it note artists and instant poets, they all deserve a platform for their gifts and their voices. Instead of a library that is just a hangout (or a forbidden cave of silence), our students need and deserve a library that serves as an engaging space where the magic of learning happens organically.
