When a student commits to participating in the band program, it is also a financial commitment for the parents. While the families I teach understand the importance of a music education, they find a way to secure the funds to rent an instrument. However, clarinet and saxophone students have the additional cost of reeds. Many times, the families cannot afford the number and quality of reeds required for student success.
Reeds are the most expensive consumable supply that a student will use in a music program. On average, a student will use 1-2 reeds per week in a music program. Multiplied over 36 weeks of the school year and it is a large financial commitment for the parents, on top of the instrument cost.
With this supply of reeds, I will be able to ensure that my students have the quality supplies that they need to continue to be successful in the music program. Students will not have to worry about attempting to play on a broken reed because they do not have any additional reeds to play on due to finances at home. Without quality reeds, students will not be able to produce a quality sound on their instrument.
