Manipulative toys and activities are a fundamental part of the learning process. My students need opportunity to manipulate objects such as magnetic learning letters, numerals and shapes as a means for developing cognitive and motor skills. Hands on activities such as puzzles, peg boards and stringing beads allows for my students to further develop pre-writing and fine motor skills. Little dinosaur and vehicle counters can be used for developing math skills such as rote counting and 1 to 1 correspondence. Music instruments allows for a multi-sensory approach to developing cognitive skills. Manipulative play helps develop a deeper understanding of presented content. There are endless possibilities when manipulative toys are presented. The best part of all is that in the child's eye manipulatives are pure fun!
