My class is a melting pot of many different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. One thing they have in common is that many of them come from impoverished families. Our school works hard to help them overcome the obstacles they face in their lives outside of school by making sure that all their needs are met in whatever way they require. We feed them, love them, and teach them. We expect great things for them and make college an accessible route to their future. My class loves to read, write, and learn. They are especially adept at math and love learning new ways to approach numbers and math skills. Their favorite books include the "Elephant and Piggy" series by Mo Willem's, as well as the "No, David!" series by David Shannon. They approach learning with enthusiasm and excitement. They make me proud of them every single day in so many ways. I'm certain that if you could spend a day with my class, you would feel the same way.
