In my classroom I have a diverse group of learners who all love to wiggle and move. Flexible seating will allow my students to squirm and move as needed in order to become more engaged learners.
Having flexible seating will give my students the freedom to choose their own seating which will make them feel empowered and help them stay focused on their learning. The idea behind flexible seating is that when children are comfortable in their environment they will be able to learn better.
My plan is to offer a variety of seating options and learning stations. Students will not have desks and will have the flexibility to choose their daily learning space. This will include lap desks for floor seating, bouncy bands for chairs for the students who prefer a desk, and pillows for low tables at the ground. I will also use the organization carts to hold the things they will need for the day. This seating will be an option for every student and include traditional desks if needed! My goal is to meet the needs of all my students and have a comfortable learning environment.
