Now that distance and hybrid learning is over, it excites me to be able to have all my students read in class together. I believe that this is a great way to develop community, as reading stimulates meaningful conversations to occur. By having a 1:1 ratio of students to books, each child will have the ability to follow along as the text is being read aloud and use their creativity to manipulate the text into images in their minds. In addition, the books that I chose for my class tie into the content that students will be learning about in 4th grade. I envision my students making connections to the text, while simultaneously deepening their understanding of the content that they are learning in class. Most importantly, I want my students to develop a passion for reading and realize that reading can be fun--because as we read, we learn, and we grow!
