My students are a diverse bunch that attend an urban arts-focused high school. In addition to being extraordinarily talented artists, they are engaged scholars. My senior students have elected to enroll in AP Literature and Composition--a difficult and rigorous class. We read everything from nineteenth-century classics to contemporary masterpieces. Our discussions and projects amaze me every day in their depth and breadth. I have many juniors and seniors that have chosen a very difficult class (AP Research) that demands they engage in scholarly and rigorous research. Their infinite curiosity and desire to better understand their world inspires me. My freshmen are energetic neophytes! They are adjusting to high school and come with a variety of ability levels. It is wonderful to join these students as they set goals for themselves, work hard to meet them, and celebrate as they rise to the academic challenges.
