My students are part of a very small, rural community in Southwest Missouri. There are approximately 180 students in the entire school, Kindergarten through 12th grade. There is a little over 50% of students receiving free or reduced lunch. Teachers at my school have worked hard (myself included) to cultivate a feeling of community and family, while also encouraging and pushing students towards their greatest potential. We at Bronaugh try to provide students with as much as possible, but as a tiny school, funding is limited. Students coming into the music/band classroom enjoy learning new and challenging things every day! Students in my room know they are accepted for who they are and that I will encourage them to strive for excellence. I see all elementary students at least twice a week. Band starts in grade 5 and goes through grade 12, with the vast majority of grades 5-7 participating in band.
