The school I teach at serves Kindergarten through 8th graders with many of those students qualifying for the free or reduced lunch program. We are working to expand our students' learning by provided after school activities and clubs such as visual art, dance, and Glee. Many of these are voluntarily run by myself and colleagues. This year I am teaching 23 first graders (5-6 year olds). The majority of my students are 2nd Language Learners. These children really enjoy being able to use the computers to play educational games but I would really like to begin preparing them to utilize the computer as an academic resource. Many of the students only have access to the Internet and computers at the school's computer lab. Fortunately, a local company donated computers with internet to each classroom at my school. This project was born from their generosity.
