My classroom aims to be a collaborative, colorful, relevant, and safe for the students of my community. Ninety-four percent of students are classified as socioeconomically disadvantaged and living in a neighborhood that is often overlooked (I should know, I grew up in it). People don't often see my students, the diamonds in the rough, so it's my job to try and shine these rocks up so they can live up to their potential! Despite the challenges they face, they come in everyday with a hope for a better future for themselves and they know education is the way to get there. They are some of the most delightful, optimistic, and hopeful human beings I have ever met! I hope that I can influence them towards that bright future I see for them, even if they cannot see it for themselves.
