Our students are creative and artistic. As they express themselves through visual arts, they develop new ways to communicate. In their art, their imagination and self-confidence explode. Our student artists bring their emotions and imaginations to life - giving a voice to the creative spirit that dwells deep inside their being. Giving our students a way to further explore the visual arts by partnering with a Teaching Artist will lead to exponential growth in arts education at our school. Students will experience heightened creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication skills while involved in rich arts-integrated lessons given by a Teaching Artist alongside classroom teachers. Our District's boundaries encompass an area that has been found to have the 3rd largest level of concentrated poverty in the US, with 72.4% of our high school student body being socio-economically disadvantaged.
