My first grade students have lots of energy and enjoy moving around the classroom as they complete their work. I want to incorporate flexible seating options into the classroom so students aren't stuck sitting at a desk all day long. Flexible seating encourages students to make decisions that benefit their learning style the most. Flexible seating will give students the ability to move, collaborate, communicate with each other, and develop critical thinking skills. The materials I have requested will give students the options to sit on a yoga ball, a cushion, stool, or take a seat on a nice clean carpet (rather than the tile in my classroom) with a lap desk to write on. This will allow my students to be their most productive!
