My students are very talented and dedicated, but many do not have a way to take their instrument home or to afford their own instrument, so they use a school-owned instrument. Some of my students have to share a school-owned instrument with another student in order to participate in class. Our school is a low-income, low-achieving school but we are working hard to change that by allowing students to participate in music. They perform many times a year for their peers and their families apart from attending State-sponsored events such as Concert Festival and Solo and Ensemble. These students love to play and want to share the gift of music with their community!
