The donations will help us purchase the materials that will allow us to effectively participate in the Science Olympiad competition. There are 23 different events and several of them need to be pre-built with some of the listed materials below; like the boomilever, battery buggy, gliders, thermo kit, and PVC pieces for the roller coaster event. The rest of the material will be used to experiment, research, and learn about the different disciplines of science for each event. The competition can be expensive and this project will help to offset some of these costs. Many of these concepts are very abstract and confusing. The materials will help these students expand their minds and engage them in concepts that they would have normally decided were too hard and been uninterested. Science Olympiad helps students to learn more about science, technology, engineering, and math and increases their interest in future careers in these STEM fields. The students are learning through hands-on, minds-on activities; cooperative learning through events which require teamwork; improved self-concept through success in achieving high standards; mastery learning of core curriculum goals and objectives; making applications and connections to the real world; and integrating not only the disciplines of science but the entire spectrum of learning. Thank you!
