Although our district and school have made many improvements to serving our population of students at our Title I school by providing interpretation (spoken) and translation (written) services to our families, there is always room for improving how we communicate with our students and families. I would like each of my students to have access to a student planner.
Aside from being a life skill to organize their priorities, it is a great way for students to take ownership of their education by creating study habits, reflecting on what they have learned, and documenting and tracking their educational goals.
Additionally, with our high mobility within the district, many of our parents frequently find themselves with new phone numbers, which makes the planner a great way to connect with our parents. Furthermore, because we regularly have newcomers entering our school, the project accounts for additional planners for these incoming students who still have to find some way to have a sense of control in their new environments.
Mil gracias, or one-thousand thank yous, for your time.
