In Kindergarten, we spend a huge part of the day sitting on a rug. It is where I teach, and where students learn the most. The rug is also a place where we have daily classroom meetings. While students sit on the rug, they are able to engage in many different lessons throughout the day, as well as participate in community building activities. Currently, our students do not have a rug in the classroom with defined spaces. This can make it difficult for students to concentrate and work on personal space skills. Donations for a large rug with enough spaces for 25 students would allow my students to fully interact in all learning activities, while giving them clear boundaries for their own space. The rug also encourages them to face forward during instruction. As a bonus, this rug has the alphabet printed on it. This will provide reinforcement to learning letters and letter sounds, which is an important skill to master in Kindergarten.
