My students with disabilities aged 18 to 21 are learning technology and vocational skills. My content area is Computer Science where I teach our students technology skills to support them after graduation. They learn to send and receive emails, practice internet safety, digital etiquette, typing and using Google Suite. In class they are also taught soft skills (communication, flexibility, positivity and teamwork) which will benefit them not only in school but in the real world. Three days a week I support students as they participate in our work internship program. Students work at the Museum of Science and Industry gaining valuable employment training in food service, working in retail and in custodial. We take public transportation to and from the work sites. The educational experiences in class, in the community and workplace prepare our students for graduation and integration into society.
