Listening comprehension is a vital part of developing literacy skills as well as an important component child development in general. A listening center enables teachers to provide students with multiple exposures to a variety of text to increase their listening comprehension. Listening centers are a great way to increase comprehension of students who are still developing their literacy skills and are just starting to read independently. This listening center will be incorporated into our skills-based rotations daily. Small groups of students will listen to and complete projects about strategically selected text allowing students to maximize their learning time independently while adults are working with other individuals and small groups of students.
