I am a first year teacher in the Hamburg Central School District. The profile picture I included has been my inspiration during the preparation phase of my 5th grade classroom. I love the collaborative learning environment, and emphasis of building a classroom community, that can be established through the use of flexible seating. In my classroom, students will be exposed to a variety of different seating arrangements during the first few weeks of school. They will then be encouraged to choose their preferred learning environment once they identify the area in which they can be most productive. Students will be able to move throughout the classroom to increase levels of engagement through the implementation of the Daily 5 and student centered learning stations. Due to the different instructional practices, and focus on kinesthetic learning, the layout and organization of the classroom is imperative.
