My students are a dynamic group of high schoolers who receive special education support and have worked on speech and language skills for much of their academic lives. They bring humor, creativity, and resilience to the classroom, persevering through challenges with communication, memory, comprehension, and vocabulary. Their wit makes sessions lively, and they thrive when given age-appropriate, engaging materials that reflect their maturity and interests.
Many of my students come from underprivileged backgrounds and face challenges like food insecurity and limited resources. Despite these obstacles, they are eager to learn and grow. Interactive, hands-on tools keep them motivated and invested in their progress. By fostering confidence, celebrating their strengths, and offering real-world practice, we can help them become effective communicators and achieve success in diverse settings.
