My junior and senior acting students will be spending much of their time in (and out of) class rehearsing pieces for school, after-school plays/musicals, and college auditions. Because I teach at a Title I school, many of my students are not in a position to buy new technology for the upcoming school year. Something as simple as a tripod for your mobile phone can help lend image stability and more appropriate camera angels to recorded theatre performances. Movement tells half the story that the actor is telling you! Giving them the tools to adequately record the physicality of their performances is vital in training them to make those choices on the stage when we are able to return. Performing arts classes like theatre is vital in keeping students engaged at school. Help us provide students with the tools they need to continue honing their craft no matter what levels of technology they have access to.
