The materials I am requesting will allow my students to build their independent skills and assist them in participating with their regular education peers. Providing my students with adapted materials through the use of lamination and velcro will engage ALL of my students, so they are able to complete academic tasks more independently regardless of their disabilities. Many of my students struggle with motor planning, fine motor skills, direction following, and expressive communication, so keeping the format of tasks consistent will allow my students to solely focus on the academic task at hand, and show what they know through receptive communication. Providing my students with engaging and interactive tasks will build their independent skills by giving them the resources necessary to complete activities at their ability levels. They will be able to participate in inclusion by learning a structured routine for completing work tasks. They will learn the routine of first looking at their visual schedule to find which work bins they will need to complete, then locate the corresponding work bins in the 6 tiered cart that I am asking for, and last bring the bin back to their seat to complete the task. Inside their bins, they will find their interactive activities for the day. This may include their adapted work binders, clothes pin clip cards, adapted books, dry-erase tracing activities, etc. All activities adapted with lamination and velcro so they are not struggling or becoming upset with the fine motor piece of completing tasks with paper and pencil. Once my students understand the routine of independent work time, they will be able to complete this process independently and achieve success like their same aged peers. Providing my students with the above materials, you will be aiding in their ability to achieve success and participate within inclusion.
