As a new teacher in a low-income district, the reading resources are limited. I would like to slowly build up my classroom library and provide texts on every Fountas and Pinnell level from A-J. The resources I have chosen provide a few books on each level while having a variety of fiction and nonfiction options for my students. Since reading is a huge predictor of future success, these books will be an important resource within my classroom. Research shows that providing children with independent, self selected reading for fun within the classroom creates students who love to read for life. However, if students can't find books that are within their reading ability or books that strike their interest then they will have difficulty finding enjoyment in it. With these resources, I will be able to provide these students with books that I know many do not have in their own homes. My students will love having so many new and exciting choices and options to choose from every day!
