Our school is the oldest all girl public high school in the nation servicing over 1000 inner city girls, mostly minorities. Our ladies are natural born leaders and are very concerned about their education. They have to meet rigorous entrance requirements to attend this school. My band members are very unique being that most have never been in a functioning music class until high school. Furthermore, most of them have never played an instrument until they are enrolled in my class. They choose to start as beginners in high school, however by the end of the year, they can perform high school level music competitively with other schools inside and outside of the district. 100% of the students whom stay with the music program throughout high school receive partial to full scholarships for music. They are "Only the Best" and live up to our motto.
