Most of my students come from disadvantaged socioeconomic homes. Lunch is provided free of cost to 100% of the students. School should be a welcoming and comfortable place where learning can occur. I chose an inviting and calm rug along with two bean bag chairs to provide flexible seating options within my classroom. These items will encourage diving into a book and maintaining focus. The rug and chairs will make the cold tile feel warm and inviting. I love to snuggle up with a good book. Don’t you? This is the feeling I’m looking to elicit from my students. Our school is working hard to improve reading scores. The more time with text a child has, the better their reading outcomes. Can you help my students find comfortable reading locations so they can spend time with books? Thank you for your consideration.
