My students come from many different backgrounds but most of them are at Community Academy because they have been given a new chance to receive a free and appropriate education. I am a new teacher and this is an alternative education/inclusion school. I am a career changer who was a Basic Research Scientists for the first half of my life and I hope to bring my practical experience with Science into the classroom to bridge the opportunity and access gap to a tech centered 21st century education. Our school is a small alternative education school that has a 15:1 Student to teacher ratio and we provide additional extracurricular support and advisement on college prep through tutoring and family engagement.
