My school is located in the inner city. Many students live in unimaginable poverty. Despite the desperate situations that many students experience at home they still come to school ready to learn. The opportunity to have students transport themselves to distant locations via books is something I would love to provide. Or just allowing students to be able to escape the real world for a short time and get lost in a book would be amazing. In our school we have a library, but sadly no librarian. Students are not able to check out books and my classroom library is very limited. In order to have students fully benefit from readers workshop a large variety of books are necessary.
