The more we can improve their access with items like these keyboards, the more opportunity we give these students to grow as students, musicians, and people. My students are motivated musicians who love learning about music but need some help improving their distance learning circumstances. These keyboards will go directly to my Advanced Music class students. Last year, they studied piano in person and are eager to continue to further their music education. My students will be distance learning for at least the fall semester of 2020. As music students, they are required to learn about music theory so they can grow as musicians and meet our state and national learning standards. However, without keyboards at home to test out their knowledge, the topic can feel dry and lifeless. Unfortunately, most of my students can not afford to own a piano or a keyboard at home. Therefore, this distance learning project would allow my students to have keyboards at home so they can learn how to play piano and bring joy into their distance learning through music.
