Some say that our city in Southern California is the most "culturally diverse city in the nation" and I would agree! If you look at the picture of my students, you will notice that there are so many different nationalities represented. Within those smiling faces are students with many financial hardships and challenges at home. For some it is only at school that they find success and validation for being who they are. I have a healthy respect for the power of my position and do anything I can to help my students believe in themselves.
