These keyboards will allow General Music and Chorus students to learn about music notation in a very structured way. My students have access to some keyboards in my classroom, but some of them are well over 10 years old and have begun to stop working. The additional keyboards will allow all music students to have a keyboard that they share with one other student​. During class, we are using a piano book to structure working through the different concepts about music. By the end of the semester, students are setting their own goals in how many songs they learn. They are ready to transition into student motivated learning with assistance from the teacher. In Chorus class, piano instruction helps students to make the connection between the auditory expression of singing and the visual and kinesthetic relationship of the notes. They will be able to relate the "Do, Re, Mi" of a song to the notes on the staff that is played on the piano.
