Each child in my class has an individual reading goal. We strive on reaching these goals every two weeks through reading at home and during class. The students grow as readers throughout the year, and it is important to meet their needs as growing readers. I find it important to introduce my students to a wide range of novels so they can be sure to read about people that look like them and read about lives different than their own. These books will not just sit on my bookshelf but will be in the hands of students as they devour the meaningful words and thoughtful ideas presented across the pages.
