My students need more choices when picking out books. They love specific characters and types of books. I have scoured the bargain sections of several DonorsChoose.org book vendors to find books my students will love at a great price. By donating to our project, you will give my students so many choices when they self-select books! You will also give them the ability to take home more than one book from our classroom library. This will be especially helpful as we approach Winter Break. For 2 whole weeks, my scholars will be out of school for the holidays. During this time, they need enough books to provide them with reading material for 14 days. Because most of their parents don't speak English, they are unlikely to visit the public library. Having an adequate number of classroom books will help my students read with radiance! You will also contribute to our reader's and writer's workshop by making us more comfortable in our colorful chairs. Over the years, I have saved good wooden chairs that were set to be sent to the trash. I took them home, cleaned them up, and painted them bright colors. They are used daily at our reading and writing table and in our library area. They are beautiful and so useful, but they would be so much more comfortable with colorful cushions. With your generous donation, I hope to outfit each of my "throw-away" wooden chairs with lovely, vibrant cushions. These cushions, along with the quality books I selected, will fuel my students desire to read, write, and learn. Thank you so much for donating!
