My students are young explorers that want to take the world by the hand. They see technology as a wonder and a tool to help them do just that. They have dreams of being astronauts, scientists, teachers, fire fighters, and so much more. They come from various backgrounds but together come together to build our classroom community. The use of technology in the classroom offers a way to connect with all students in many wonderful ways. It breaks down barriers in culture or background helping to build a stronger community in our school. Our school is in a low income area and many of our students do not have the option of using technology at home. Out of the 363 students at my school, 80% are on free or reduced price lunch. 22% of our students are bilingual, 41% of our students are Hispanic. We have over 50% new staff at our school in the past 3 years giving us a total of 27 teachers. 96% of our 27 teachers are meeting ESEA highly qualified definitions.
